Engineered Systems

A seaside resort in Egypt required an alternative to the costly and often undependable method of trucking fresh water into their facility. Without local ground water resources available, desalination was the only alternative.
ITT Water Equipment Technologies designed a seawater reverse osmosis system capable of producing drinking water from the Red Sea. The Red Sea has an especially high salinity level, approximate 40,000 PPM, making it imperative that the system be designed to not only perform efficiently, but also be capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of the application. The system provided is now producing 134,000 GPD of high purity drinking water at one-third the cost of alternative sources.
